The Initiation

Little Amber was only was only in her early teens when she was formally introduced to the paranormal.
Amber had been best friends with Tina for several years and was welcome with open arms into Tina’s eccentric family. Anytime that Amber was there, Tina’s family would tease Amber by making comments pertaining to the home’s invisible family member. Amber took the notion with a grain of salt and chalked the teasing up to fiction.
One afternoon, Amber accompanied Tina home from school and the girls planned a sleepover. Looking forward to an evening of giggles and popcorn, Amber never considered that her evening might be disrupted by the unknown.
At one point in the late afternoon, Tina and her family informed Amber that they had to run uptown briefly. Amber decided to stay behind, alone.
After everyone left, Amber was surfing the channels on the television when she suddenly heard an odd noise coming from a nearby bedroom. The noise was indisputably the clanging of wire hangers being shoved around as though someone were frantically searching for something to wear.
Confused, Amber immediately assumed that the family’s small dog may have gotten into something in the closet and she started to get off the couch to go and check it out. Before she even stood up, the noise had ceased and that’s when she noticed the little dog sleeping on the floor beside the sofa. More than little alarmed by this time, she noticed that noise not only had started again, but was getting increasingly louder. It was as though the noise had entered into the hallway and was making it’s way towards her.
As the noise got louder and closer, the dog became increasingly agitated and frightened as well. He began to whimper and whine, shivering with fear. The noise was so intense now and so close that Amber panicked and bolted for the front door. The dog was close behind her, but the noise seemed to also follow in hot pursuit.
The screen door was one which when opened had a very tight and fast closing mechanism so that after Amber was out the door, it closed very quickly, trapping the little dog inside. Amber ran out into the middle of the lawn, petrified. The dog was inside literally screeching and madly clawing at the door to get out. Suddenly, the dog yelped and all was quiet.
Amber was beside herself with fear and worry for the little dog but was much too afraid to go and check. She decided to sit on the front lawn and wait for Tina and her family to come home.
Within the hour, the family returned to find Amber sitting nervously in the yard. Amber frantically explained what had happened and to her shock and amazement, all Tina said in reply was, “I told ya there was a ghost in that house.”
