Death at the Door

David was a bright young man in his mid-teens.  Full of musical talent and dreams of someday forming a famous rock band.  He had a particularly interesting and unique fashion taste with pierced lips, long black jackets and hair draping past his shoulders.

David’s family accepted his eccentric ways even though his parents were devout Catholics.  Everyone saw past David’s interesting look and accepted him as the unique individual he was, but David had a secret.

He had been dabbling, unbeknownst to everyone, with the taboo practices of Satanism.  One evening, his perspective on the potential hazards of teasing the supernatural would surface with a frightening visit.

While in his room, late one night, he strummed his guitar while sitting back on his bed.  His bed faced the door to the basement stairs.  His door was wide open and he was contently tinkering with a new song.

Suddenly David felt a very cold draft and an eerie sensation.  He felt a presence in the doorway and looked up towards the door.  There, to his horror, was a very large cloaked entity.  He couldn’t see the face hiding behind the black hood, just a black abyss.  The entity was so tall it nearly reached the top of the door frame, it simply hovered there, arms folded, glaring at David.

Panic stricken and heart thumping, he threw his pillow and screamed at the creature only to have the pillow go right through the terrifying shadow man.

David’s father came rushing downstairs after hearing his son’s cries and after he rounded the corner towards David’s room, the creature vanished.

David explained frantically what had happened and both prayed on their knees, bible in hand, for many, many hours.  Needless to say, David steered clear of any Satanist ideals after that.
